Following 13 years out of traffic, North British 24 Class 2-8-4 No.3620 (NB No.26332) has undergone several test runs, completing them all.

The successful test run was completed on the 12th January.

Tony Marsden, pictured below, has worked on the same class of engines before in South Africa and is currently a driver for the Bellarine Railway.

During the locomotive’s restoration, several major changes and additions have been made.

Owned by Mr Ian Welch, 3620 is now equipped with air brakes and oil firing, along with a bell, smokebox headlight and front numberplates being fitted at the owner’s request.

All going to plan, 3620 should hopefully be hauling the ‘Q Train’ restaurant car service later on this month, along with many more trains in the future.
