The team at the North Tyneside Railway have been busy resuming overhaul work on Brake Coach No.E43172, which will join other coaching stock in traffic once work across the whole carriage is completed.

Firstly, work began on removing the old wooded doorsteps, this was done to gain access to the steelwork below, and the old steps were life expired. This allowed welding on the new support brackets to the striped back frame as the old brackets had suffered heavily from corrosion and rust.

At the ends of the coach, filler and sanding are in progress to produce a smooth finish ready for primer. Finally, a new plate of steel for a step was marked up, cut down and ready for welding in place was completed.
