Train operator Northern has announced that work at Whitehaven railway station has been completed.
The work at the station on the Cumbrian Coast line has seen work done to the car park and waiting shelters.
The layout of the car park has been changed and relined after resurfacing took place. This means there are now two more accessible parking bays at the station.
New lines on the car park have also created a walking route and crossing.
A disused cycle rack has been replaced with a new waiting shelter and improvements have been made to the other shelter at the station.
These changes at the station are all part of a wider programme of work on the rail network.
The train operator has a campaign called ‘A Better Way to Go' which helps to highlight the work being done at stations to improve them for passengers.
Different stations are having various pieces of work done, including longer platforms and improved CCTV as well as the mobility scooter scheme.

Chris Jackson, Regional Director at Northern, said: “I am confident that these enhanced facilities will be welcomed by our customers. We are really pleased to see that the upgrade has been completed to such a high standard.”
