Three Essex railway stations have their waiting rooms upgraded

Train operator Greater Anglia has completed the upgrade of three waiting rooms at stations on their network in Essex.

The £190,000 programme of updates saw improvements to accessibility and better to use for passengers.

At and , wide automatic doors were installed to improve accessibility for passengers using a wheelchair or those having pushchairs and luggage.

Those stations along with were redecorated and had new flooring and seating installed. Energy-efficient heating and air conditioning have also been installed.

Passengers now have the chance to charge laptops and their mobile phones while also using the free Wi-Fi.

CCTV is also now at the stations along with new information screens. They also received ‘Safe and Secure' status last year.

Simone Bailey, Greater Anglia's Asset Management Director, said, “The aim was to deliver more accessible, comfortable waiting rooms and better facilities for our customers to improve their experience of travelling by rail and to encourage passengers to return once the current pandemic restrictions end.”

“Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and service to our customers.”

  • Greater Anglia WiFi is rubbish. Doesn’t always seem to work including on the trains and at stations. And it’s putting passengers off using free WiFi.
