Three DVTs are to get special liveries to promote charities in Wales, and it's up to the public to choose which one of three gets the spot.

Three sets of MK4 carriages, along with a Class 67 locomotive and a Class 82 Driving Van Trailer, or DVT, will be introduced in 2021 on the Cardiff – Holyhead service.

As part of the branding of the trains, the DVT will feature a livery promoting a charity.

The train operator has already chosen two of the three charities, with Alzheimer's Society Cymru and Ty Gobaith Children's Hospice being picked.

For the third, a poll will be run on Twitter to choose between Mind Cymru, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), and Wales Air Ambulance.

The poll will run between 10th and 17th February.

James Price, Transport for Wales CEO, said: “The introduction of new rolling stock to our fleet is always a landmark moment, but I'm delighted that we are making it a little more special by using this as an opportunity to celebrate and promote the great work that our leading charities do.

“This is particularly important during this challenging time when so many people are reliant on the support that these charities provide. It will undoubtedly be a very competitive poll, and all three nominated charities will be worthy winners. I wish everyone involved the very best of luck!”
