Following the Government statement yesterday regarding the easing of lockdown restrictions, the has confirmed the good news that their Spring Steam Up will go ahead as planned between the 15th and 18th April.

Although the railway will not be able to open for Easter, services will start from the 12th of April in line with government restrictions.

Passengers will have their own compartment for the day and other Covid-safe measures will be in place, such as social distancing and hand sanitisation facilities.

The railway's refreshment rooms will be serving takeaway food and the pubs at Bridgnorth and Kidderminster will offer an outdoor table service.

The Engine House will remain closed until the 17th May at the earliest, when restrictions may change.

In addition to the Spring Steam Up, the Diesel Bash will also go ahead between the 13th and 16th of May.

Helen Smith, the SVR's general manager said, “It's a huge relief that we will be able to operate both these special events, as well as offer our regular excursion services from 12th April. We're very much looking forward to welcoming the unique locomotive 2999 Lady of Legend to our steam event, which is already 60% sold out.”

“We'll be contacting all passengers who have booked to travel up to and including 11th April. We are sorry to have to disappoint these people, but we will make sure they don't lose out by offering them a transfer to another date or a refund.”
