The has announced that the new nameplates for new build Great Western Railway (GWR) Churchward County Class No.3840 “County of Montgomery” have been completed.

Procast Foundry, based in Cleckheaton, have carried out and finished all the work on the pair of nameplates, with thanks to John Buxton of Cambrian Transport for sponsoring the work.

The process sees each letter, in 3840's case 18 characters, cast individually in brass, followed by mounting the backplate made of steel. The final touches see the brass beading and paint applied.

When the COVID-19 situation improves, a formal handover of the nameplates will be organised.

Work is also progressing well at Tyseley Locomotive Works in Birmingham, where the locomotives main frame plates are on stands, ready for further work.
