“I would walk 2874 miles…” – fundraising effort for steam locomotive 2874

A new fundraising effort has been launched by David Holmes, a Trustee of , to raise funds for steam locomotive 2874.

The new COVID-19 challenge sees anyone, whatever age, run, cycle, jog or walk, and in total travel 2874 miles, raising funds for the restoration project.

Participants will cover a set mileage over a set number of days, such as a mile a day for 28 days.

You can be sponsored to do this, and The 2874 Trust is asking to donate your sponsorship money to the trust and their restoration project for steam locomotive 2874.

Donations can be made via their Give As You Live page.

Two trustees, David Holmes and David Foster, are already taking part. David Foster is covering 74 miles over 28 days, and David Holmes covering 284 miles over 74 days. Both are busy finding sponsors and are happy to receive sponsorships for those unable to complete activities.

The fundraiser has already raised £421.25, which is vital funds for the overhaul of 2874, you can read the latest updates over on their website.
