The has released a further update on the overhaul work taking place on Hunslet steam locomotive Holy War at their Llanuwchllyn Works, as well as at the Severn Valley Railway.

The locomotive has been wheeled, and the frames for Holy War have now been painted.

Holy War's rolling chassis is now complete, with the internal motion not finished. The Bala Lake Railway is now awaiting the arrival of the overhauled boiler to return from the Severn Valley Railway.

Moving on to the boiler, whilst at the Severn Valley Railway, the inspector noticed that a section of the boiler had “become a bit thin” and a new barrel was manufactured.

The new angle ring, where the boiler joins the smokebox, required work after it was found to have holes drilled incorrectly by a sub-contractor and meant a replacement was needed.

Holy War's overhauled boiler is due back at Llanuwchllyn very soon, according to the Bala Lake Railway.
