Storm Christoph is battering the North West of England, and railway engineers are battling to keep passenger and freight trains running.
Flooding has affected a number of routes as the rain continues to fall.
High volume pumps are being used by Network Rail to clear floodwater away from the railway to carry out inspections of the various railway lines.
Speed restrictions are in place on the West Coast Main Line, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria.

Phil James, managing director for Network Rail's North West route, said: “As expected we're now seeing the full force of Storm Christoph and our extreme weather action teams are working flat out to keep trains moving and passengers safe.”
“I'd urge anyone who must travel for the reasons set out by government over the next few days to check National Rail Enquiries or with their train operator before setting off, so they know exactly what to expect.”
