MAJOR DISRUPTION: Edinburgh to Aberdeen trains cancelled after embankment damaged near Stonehaven

is advising passengers of major disruption this morning after they received reports of a railway embankment being damaged between Laurencekirk and .

Train services operating between Glasgow Queen Street and will be terminated at Dundee, and trains will also start at Dundee.

Both lines on the line to Aberdeen are closed whilst engineers and railway staff arrive to assess the damage.

ScotRail train services between Edinburgh and Aberdeen will be cancelled throughout, whilst Edinburgh to Arbroath trains will run as scheduled.

Trains between Montrose and Inverurie will run between Aberdeen and Inverurie only.

ScotRail has said, at the time of writing, that they have not requested any rail replacement bus service.

Disruption is expected until 2 pm on Friday 15th January 2021.
