Over the Christmas and New Year period a major package of upgrades throughout the rail network in the Anglia region were completed by Network Rail engineers.
The work involved improvements to track, equipment and structures and will help make journeys more reliable for both passengers and freight.
Some of the work included:
Six points were replaced at London Liverpool Street along with overhead wire replacements in Stratford.
In Colchester, switches and crossings were replaced and in Norwich station, a crossover was refurbished.
Work was carried out on the Elizabeth line, extending platforms 16 and 17 at Liverpool street ready for longer trains due later this year.
Overhead wire work was completed on the Southend Victoria and Clacton-On-Sea branch lines.
Bridge structure works at Chalk Farm, Camden Road in London and Postwick in Norfolk were completed
Ellie Burrows, Network Rail's route director for Anglia, said: “All of this work, however large or small, has a positive impact across the whole network and is crucial to running a safe and reliable service for our passengers on all lines. I'd like to thank passengers for their patience while we carried out this important work.”

Next massive task for Network Rail is to replace the ageing 1950s overhead wires on the LTS Line between Bromley-by-Bow and Fenchurch Street and to replace the ageing overhead wires on the Ardwick-Hadfield/Gosslop Line in Greater Manchester via Guide Bridge. With plans for electrification to Stalybridge. So that Northern can use the Class 323 and Class 331 EMUs to Stalybridge to & from Manchester Piccadilly. But brilliant work from the Orange team.
