The first Citylink tram-train from Stadler has made its way from Valencia, in Spain, to Szentes, in Hungary, where it is currently at the Hungarian Railway Company MÁV maintenance depot.
The three-car prototype was shipped from Spain to Hungary in 9 days, and the first unit will be followed by 7 trains, with the batch of 8 trains set to enter service in the latter half of 2021.
These new Citylink trams will be in service between Szeged and Hódmezővásárhely in Southern Hungary.
Back in May 2017, the contract for 8 trams was signed between Stadler and Hungarian operator MÁV-START Zrt., with the option of four additional trams.
The second lot of 4 trains will follow the initial batch of 8, which the operator ordered last year, triggering the option of the 4 additional trains.
Up to 216 passengers can be carried on the trams, with 92 seats available. The low floor means that the trams meet the latest safety standards and can run on either electric mode or diesel mode.

Looks just like the Class 399 Sheffield Supertram tram-train and Transport for Wales Class 398 which is to be built. Maybe Manchester Metrolink could order new Stadler Citylink tram-trains for the extension to Stockport.
