Transport for Wales has told RailAdvent that they are on track with crew training on the new Class 67 and Mark 4 trains, despite the Coronavirus pandemic.
The operator has also exclusively told RailAdvent that they are planning to put into service the first train by the start of the Summer.
Transport for Wales has also said that they are planning to begin operating three trips between Cardiff and Holyhead during the Summer months.
Of course, this is all subject to change if the Coronavirus pandemic impacts Transport for Wales any further.
Transport for Wales has 3 sets in total compromising of a Class 67 locomotives (67008, 67017, 67025), on lease from DB Cargo UK, along with 4 Mark 4 carriages and a DVT on the end.
The carriages will be staying in an interim Transport for Wales livery which is based on the livery used by London North Eastern Railway. The Class 67s are in TfW grey and white already.
A Transport for Wales spokesperson told RailAdvent: “Crew training on the Mark 4 carriages is underway, despite the challenges posed by COVID-19. We're planning to get the first Mark 4 set in service by the start of the summer and a full service of three return trips between Cardiff and Holyhead during the summer. This is subject to any further impact of COVID-19.”
