Real Time Trains and South Western Railway team up to give better information to London passengers

Rail passengers are benefitting from better software to plan ahead more effectively thanks to a new partnership between and .

Know Your Train provides passengers with more information about their train as well as available onboard facilities such as WiFi, plug sockets and entertainment systems.

Passengers can already use Real Time Trains to keep up to date on their trains journey, including getting the latest information on delays.

Alan Penlington, Customer Experience Director at South Western Railway, said: “The launch of the Know Your Train feature will give our customers more information about their journeys than ever before, highlighting the availability of many features we have introduced on board our trains including Wi-Fi and infotainment.

“With a number of train types in our fleet, providing information to our customers on train lengths and formations will also help them better plan their journey, which we're asking people to do now more than ever.”

Tom Cairns, Founder of Realtime Trains, said: “We're excited to welcome South Western Railway as our latest partner for Know Your Train, which now covers over a third of the rail network. Customers can now expect more information relevant to their journey, giving them more confidence in travelling by train in future.”

South Western Railway has joined the likes of Northern, ScotRail and CrossCountry in joining the Know Your Train scheme.

  • And hopefully South Western Railway will allow to introduce the Class 701/0 10-Car in service with the 5-Car Class 701/5 to be built and to enter service.

    Which South Western Railway promised to improve services in Southwest London and on the Reading and Windsor & Eton Riverside services. And with the Class 455, Class 456 and Class 458 to be scrapped (or cascaded to Southern) and Class 707 to be cascaded to Southeastern.
