Glasgow trains begin running again after person hit by train

UPDATE: Trains are now running properly again after this incident

A person has been hit by a train in Scotland and means that some trains out of are being cancelled.

The incident has happened between Thornliebank and East Kilbride.

This means that trains on the Central to East Kilbride route will not run until at least 12 pm.

Ticket acceptance is in place with ScotRail between Glasgow Central and Pollockshaws West.

So far, the confirmed cancellations are:

  • 09:48 Glasgow Central to East Kilbride
  • 09:55 East Kilbride to Glasgow Central
  • 10:18 Glasgow Central to East Kilbride
  • 10:26 East Kilbride to Glasgow Central
  • 10:48 Glasgow Central to East Kilbride
  • 10:55 East Kilbride to Glasgow Central
  • 11:18 Glasgow Central to East Kilbride
  • 11:26 East Kilbride to Glasgow Central
  • 11:48 Glasgow Central to East Kilbride
  • 12:26 East Kilbride to Glasgow Central

A ScotRail spokesperson said: Sadly, we have received reports of a person being struck by a train between East Kilbride and Thornliebank. We're working closely with emergency services during this time. Train services between Glasgow Central and East Kilbride will be cancelled or revised.
