has sent RailAdvent another update on progress made to bring 5551 The Unknown Warrior to the mainline.

Work has continued at West Shed since the last lockdown in England. Progress has been made on the lubrication system, and the time-consuming machining of small components such as the valve chest drains.

A number of components have been moved from the Crewe Heritage Centre and are now in a new storage container at West Shed.

The driving wheel trailing axle has now been cut up and removed at Riley and Son in Bury. This had previously proven impossible to remove from the wheels.

The work by Riley and Son will now allow the wheel weld repair to take place, and a new axle will be fitted.
