has confirmed to RailAdvent that they have raised £4000 in The Big Give Christmas Challenge, with money being match-funded in the week-long fundraiser.

Running from the 1st December until the 8th December 2020, The Big Give aims to match fundraising campaigns in the UK.

The 2874 Trust needed to raise £2000 from supporters in order to be matched with another £2000.

£4000 will pay for the work on 2874's “horns” – this is the place in the frames of the locomotives where the axle boxes sit.

This is an essential piece of the project to re-wheel the locomotive and open up for more volunteer training and development.

Whilst the trust have met their target, donations are still welcome, and it may mean the trust win a further £1000 (this won't be match-funded).

The 2874 Trust has said “Just 2 days left to help us with our Big Give Christmas Challenge Fundraiser. Every pound raised will go towards restoring 2874 and may be help us win a further £1000. Thank You for Your Support”

Donations can be made to The Big Give fundraiser by clicking here to visit their fundraising page.

This is an excellent opportunity for The 2874 Trust, so if you can help, please do!

  • Well There’s A Surprise… This Must Be Quite an Early Christmas Present, for the 2874 Loco Group and it’s so-called ”The Big Give” Xmas Challenge.

Especially to help get this ex-GWR Loco Restored to Working Order and Potentially Roam the Rails of the Gloucetsershire-Warwickshire Railway, within the next few years.

Well Done to them by the way.
