has announced that they have reached a milestone in bringing GWR steam locomotive No. 7200 back to steam.

Recently, the team were able to get the tanks, cab and smokebox back onto the frames of the locomotive.

All the fitting went well, with only a little bit of adjustment needed on the cab which was due to it being the first time in more than 20 years that the cab has been on the frames and because the side tanks and bunkers are both brand new.

The trust has stated that this work was deemed essential due to the locomotive needing to move to the Up Yard at Quainton as soon as possible due to HS2 which will restrict lorry movements between the down and up yards.

One job that the trust has to carry out before the locomotive is moved is the fitting of the spring stops, these are fitted on top of the front and rear axle boxes.

These are currently being machined and will be fitted as soon as completed

Lifts and lorries cost a lot of money and Trust has said it is costing them around £1,000 in this case, and without the revenue from their shop, money is tight.
