The and its Preservation Society have launched a Locomotive Fund to help restore the fleet of steam locomotives at the railway.

The railway currently has 3 locomotives in need of support so that the volunteers can restore them to their former glory.

Every donation in the appeal will be “ring-fenced” and will be used to repair the locomotives.

The Gwili Railway currently are in the early stages of restoring and to put them back into steam service, but extra funds are needed for parts and boiler tests.

Some benefits are available for donators to the fund:

  • £2-£19 – supporters will receive a certificate
  • £20 – £49 – supporters will receive a certificate and a print of either Haulwen or Olwen
  • £50 – £99 – supporters will get a certificate, print and a mug
  • £100+ – supporters will receive a certificate, print, mug and a footplate ride on Haulwen or Olwen

Dyfan Rees, volunteer at the Gwili Railway, told RailAdvent: “Both locomotives were the mainstay of our fleet over the years with Olwen being one of our earliest arrivals and Haulwen arriving from Caerphilly, it would make us very happy to see both operational in the near future with a lot of the work completed in house, we are very proud of these fine machines and hope you can all see their great historical and value to our locomotive fleet.”

You can donate to the fund by visiting the Gwili Steam Railway website by clicking here.

  • This is also quite A highlight, As the Gwili Railway are indeed Appealing, on Conjuring up ways in Hopefully Restoring these Locos of Theirs,

As well as Aiming to Hopefully Extend further up the Gwili Valley, as far North as Llanpumpsaint.

I do hope this Wonderful Heritage Railway does well on their Aimful Goals.

  • The Gwili Railway, is one of the Greatest Heritage Railway Transportation Destinations, that I’ve ever come across, Especially ‘in-person’ one time, Because I was previously down in that very part of Wales a few years ago.

It’s Gloriously Wonderful, that this Preserved Railway cares so much about it’s Steam Locos, and Aiming to Restore them back into Good Use.
