The Llangollen Railway has announced that they have cancelled their planned Christmas trains.
Both their Santa Specials and Mince Pie Specials for 2020 have been cancelled.
The railway says that there is “uncertainty surround further local area lockdown restrictions” and also says there is “no guarantee the majority of the passengers will be able to travel”.
Everyone with a booking will be contacted by the railway, though due to the furlough scheme, the office is running with a skeleton staff. Facebook messages will not be responded to, emails will be replied too, but may take longer, and the railway is asking people not to call them.
The Llangollen Railway said: “It is with a very heavy heart that we have taken the decision to cancel the Santa and Mince Pie Specials for 2020.”
“Please bear with us during this unprecedented period. Your help and support during this difficult time is very much appreciated.”
“Again, our apologies, we hope to see you at Llangollen Railway in 2021.”

A sensible decision. Probably the one that ALL lines ought to be making considering that national chaos of the moment.
The only reason any line ought to be trying to push on this season is if they are totally broke and about to fold without running these services, as then they have nothing to lose if they can’t run and and go broke anyway.
If a line has any financial resources free, they’d sadly do better not to take the risk.
My nickname for the Llangollen Railway… is ”Llangollen (& Corwen) Railway,
After all, this Heavenly Welsh Heritage Railway… Roams the Dee Valley of the River Dee, A Terrific 10 Miles en-route, to Corwen (& Return).
I’d still look forward to at long last visit this Transportation Destination ‘in-person’ someday.
Well that must be so disappointing… The Lovely & Well-Preserved Llangollen (& Corwen) Railway having to Heartachingly Cancel it’s own Festive Train Rides just as all was going well.
So sorry to hear and learn about this b the way… I do hope (Really Truly Hope) the Llangollen (& Corwen) Railway eventually Reopen back up and running sometime in 2021.
