  • the locomotive 4160 is still owned by 4160 ltd it is on hire under contract to the 5542 group for 13 years and will be returned to Four One Six O Ltd custody

  • Well then, Looks as though the South Devon Railway (At Buckfastleigh) Have A Potential newcomer to their own fleet of locos…

Especially with Yet Another Loco Restoration Project, to Potentially keep this Fascinating Devon-shire/West Country Branch Line Heritage Railway & Transportation Destination as Busy as Ever.

I Also Believe, A Terrific Total of 10 examples (of this Classic ex-Great Western 5101 Class Loco Design) have been Preserved.

It’s Astonishingly Amuzing that there are even more Steam Locos within Preservation…

And I Beleive this ex-Great Western Steamer – whom it’s number 4160, has Potential of doing A Good Job pulling/hauling Passenger Trains up & down the route of this West Country Branch Line Heritage Railway one day…

Especially when the SDR have completed said Restoration.

  • “4160 was built in September 1948 and worked for 16 years with Great Western Railway”
That would have been difficult. A ‘Back to the future’ incident?

  • I think that the overhaul of 5239 Goliath was completed by the East Somerset Railway at Cranmore??

  • 523 Goliath, belonging to the Dartmouth Rail and River Company underwent her overhaul at the East Somerset Railway not South Devon. Also at the ESR is 4555 and 4110.
