Later this month the second round of consultation for the new Cambridge South Railway Station will begin.
The public consultation opens on the 19th of October, the preferred location for the new railway station at Cambridge South was announced back in June
The new station will provide travel options for patients, visitors and employees when travelling to and from the Biomedical Campus.
The consultation will be carried out by Network Rail and will be to discuss the station facilities as well as look at how the feedback from the first consultation has been addressed.
The new railway station at Cambridge South is being funded by the Department for Transport, the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, the Greater Cambridge Partnership and AstraZeneca Ltd.
The consultation will last for 6 weeks and the public will be able to view the proposals as well as hold virtual discussions and submit comments.
If consent for the station is given, work could begin 2023 with a target opening date of 2025.

Cllr Roger Hickford, Chair of the Greater Cambridge Partnership said: “We fully support plans to deliver Cambridge South which would link to other transport projects being developed to give people access to quick, reliable and sustainable public transport services to and from the busy Cambridge Biomedical Campus. We are aware of the future growth in employment on this site and the development of Cambridge South is essential.”

I think its a great idea to have a station south of Cambridge so that it can serve Cambridge’s 2 hospitals-Addenbrook’s Hospital and Royal Papworth Hospital and Cambridge Biochemical Campus.
Will it have 4 platforms (2 island platforms) with step-free accessibility and P&R facility. And the new station is to be located near to Addenbrooks Hospital, Royal Papworth Hospital and the Biomedical Campus.
