Amberley Museum has announced that it has been awarded £80,000 as part of the £1.57bn Culture Recovery Fund to help with the recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.
Amberley is just one of the organisations receiving help thanks to the first round of the Culture Recovery Fund programme, which is being administered by Arts Council England.
More rounds of funding in the heritage sector are due to be announced in the coming weeks.
Having reopened to visitors in July 2020 with the necessary covid adjustments, the grant will help Amberley Museum through the winter by contributing to salaries and other overheads.
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said: “This funding is a vital boost for the theatres, music venues, museums and cultural organisations that form the soul of our nation. It will protect these special places, save jobs and help the culture sector's recovery.
“These places and projects are cultural beacons the length and breadth of the country. This unprecedented investment in the arts is proof this government is here for culture, with further support to come in the days and weeks ahead so that the culture sector can bounce back strongly.”
Chair, Arts Council England, Sir Nicholas Serota, said: “Theatres, museums, galleries, dance companies and music venues bring joy to people and life to our cities, towns and villages. This life-changing funding will save thousands of cultural spaces loved by local communities and international audiences. Further funding is still to be announced and we are working hard to support our sector during these challenging times.”
Director of Amberley Museum, Valerie Mills, said: “We are delighted to have received this award of £80,000 from the Culture Recovery Fund. This funding will play an essential part in Amberley's ability to survive the pandemic, particularly through the next few months in very uncertain times. Although we re-opened successfully just over two months ago, we are operating on limited numbers and are unable to run our usual events, so this funding will enable us to plan confidently for the future and continue to welcome our many volunteers, members, supporters and visitors.”

The Amberley Museum is oen of the most Interesting and Astoundingly ”Eagerly-Must-Visit” Transportation Destinations that I’ve ever Discovered/Come Across,
I’d certainly look forwrd to travelling down to and visit the Amberley Museum ‘in-person’ someday.
