The Midland Railway – Butterley has announced that their application to the Heritage Emergency Fund has been successful.

The MRB has been awarded £104,400 and will help them survive 2020 and make sure they have time and resources to make the changes required to reopen in 2021.

The Midland Railway – Butterley will soon be launching a major fundraising campaign to support the improvements required to make sure they can welcome visitors once again.

Several other heritage railways have also had their applications granted, which will help cover the costs whilst they have been, or still are, closed due to the pandemic.

The Midland Railway Butterley has said: “Whilst we continue to face very challenging times, this is an early step in a bright new future for the Midland Railway – Butterley.”

“The Midland Railway – Butterley sends a big THANK YOU to #NationalLottery players for making this possible!”

I Even Hope to Revisit the Midland Railway-Butterley ‘in-person’ Once Again, Someday… I’d look forward to it.
