has announced that improvements to railway station in Hove, Sussex have been completed. Over £500,000 has been invested in the project.

First opened in 1905 forming part of the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway, the station is now part of the West Coastway Line, taking just 7 minutes on the train to Brighton.

The work at the Aldrington station involved works to restore and strengthen both platforms.

In addition, de-vegetation works took place and the platform surfaces were jet washed.

  • Nice to see the platforms extended to accommodate longer trains. Including Southern Class 377 and Gatwick Express Class 387/2.

  • Maybe some stations on the East Coastway Line, Seaford branch line, Bognor Regis branch line and West Coastway Line could have platforms extended to allow 4-Car Class 377s and in future Class 458 cascaded from SWR to work on those lines if Southern is to replace the Class 455 and Class 313.
