is welcoming passengers back to the railway and will assure passengers that all COVID-19 safety measures will be in effect whilst they are travelling.

The managing director for Greater Anglia, James Burles, speaks to customers in a video released by Greater Anglia, where he says that “It's now an option again to travel by train, so here at Greater Anglia, we're very much looking forward to seeing you in the near future.”

The video promotes the safety measures Greater Anglia is taking to reduce the spread of COVID-19, and how Greater Anglia is almost running a normal timetable, with frequent trains across the network.

An increased cleaning regime has been implemented at stations and on the trains as an additional safety measure. Hand sanitiser is also available at all staffed stations, and Greater Anglia will donate to charity when the sanitiser is used by passengers.

Greater Anglia is also reminding passengers that face coverings are mandatory, unless exempt, at all stations and onboard all services. If passengers do not comply, then a £100 fine could be enforced.

There have been plastic screens installed at ticket booths at stations, but Greater Anglia is encouraging passengers to buy tickets in advance online.

All these safety measures should ensure that passengers travelling with Greater Anglia are safe and reducing the spread of COVID-19!

  • You might be welcoming passengers back but you need to police their behaviour too! My son and daughter in law travelled from Cromer to Norwich on the 6pm train last Saturday. There was a group of drunks causing mayhem with nobody to deal with them. My son paid £50 for a taxi back instead of taking the last train as he and his wife didn’t feel safe!

  • IT might just help if GA stopped running 4-car sets off-peak on the Southend services. Granted there is less traffic to/from Southend airport at present, but some services are getting busier, particularly those stopping at Romford. Over to you, GA.

    • Indeed. The Class 379s could be ideal for that as well on the Crouch Valley Line and on other branch lines in Essex. And Class 379s for the Hertford East line to/from Liverpool St and/or Stratford. If GA were to retain the Class 379s.

  • Nice to see Greater Anglia demanding passengers back despite the threat of 2nd wave of Coronavirus could stop transport again. And for people to travel on trains if its nessesary.

  • I have been avoiding Greater Anglia due to the Coronavirus pandemic and restrictions. But I have seen some of the Class 720 Aventras out & about on test run on the Southend Victoria. Have the Class 720 also done test runs on other lines including Hertford East, West Anglia, Braintree, Crouch Valley, Sunshine and Mayflower lines. And to Ipswich & Norwich. When are they due to enter service as I can’t wait to see them coming into service.
