Passengers are being reminded by Network Rail to check before travelling between Norwich and Lowestoft as a week-long project to renew tracks takes place.
Engineers will be replacing nearly 2.5 miles of track at Cantley station.
For this work to take place, a week long closure of the line will be in effect from 11 pm on Friday 14th August 2020 until Monday 24th August 2020.
A rail replacement bus service will be in operation, and passengers should check with their train operator before travelling.
The work will include track replacement and installation of a new vehicle deck across Station Road crossing in Cantley. Closures of the crossing are required on the following days and times:
- From 22:00 on Wednesday 19 August to 05:00 on Monday 24 August
- From 23:00 on Friday 28 August to 06:00 on Sunday 30 August to complete the vehicle deck.
The level crossing will be closed to vehicles, but pedestrian access will be maintained via a foot crossing.
Plans are in place to allow vehicle access for the emergency services when they need.
Network Rail is providing a secure parking facility along with a minibus service to transport people between the car park and the foot crossing to minimise the inconvenience for passengers.

We recognise the impact this work will have on the local community and have put measures in place to try to minimise the disruption. I'd like to thank the Cantley community and British Sugar for their patience and co-operation while we carry out this work.”

“We will ensure that customers are able to complete their journeys – even if part of it is by bus, and that any measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 are followed.'

I like what Network Rail are improving the railways in East Anglia to keep it running. Keep up the good work.
Maybe Network Rail should upgrade the single line between Kennett and Ely to be double track. And with Soham railway station to be built to have 2 platforms instead of 1 platform. Which the line could help with the freight traffic coming to & from Port of Felixstowe to the Midlands.
And also to upgrade the Felixstowe Branch Line to double track from Trimley to Felixstowe station and to the Port of Felixstowe.
