Britannia steam locomotive is set to steam to Shrewsbury this Wednesday

UPDATE: We have been informed that Britannia is now back in original guise, not 70022 Tornado.

Steam locomotive 70000 Britannia, in the guise of 70022 ‘Tornado’, will be hauling a tour this Wednesday to Shrewsbury.

Departing Exeter St Davids at 05:52, the train will be hauled by heritage diesels, and will pass through Tiverton Parkway (06:09), Taunton (06:25), Bridgwater (06:40) and Bristol Temple Meads at 07:39.

Here, 70022 ‘Tornado’ will take over from the diesels, and will depart at 08:10. From Bristol, 70022 will pass through Patchway (08:29), Severn Tunnel Junction (08:44), Cwmbran (09:27), Hereford (10:11), Leominster (11:05), Craven Arms (11:23), and Shrewsbury at 12:07.

After four hours in Shrewsbury, the locomotive will go back the same path as the outbound journey. Departing Shrewsbury at 16:08, the train will pass through Craven Arms (16:38), Hereford (17:19), Cwmbran (18:55), Severn Tunnel Junction (19:57), Patchway (20:15), Bristol Temple Meads (20:35 – 70022 is taken off the train here), Bridgwater (21:38), Taunton (21:54), Tiverton Parkway (22:15) and Exeter St Davids at 22:34.
