Shunting locomotive leaves Midsomer Norton railway for modifications

Recently, a number of volunteers at the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway at Midsomer Norton helped load up shunting locomotive , which is leaving the railway for a few months whilst it has vacuum brakes fitted and small repairs completed.

The work is costing several thousand pounds, but has been funded by one of the railways members.

When the locomotive does return to the railway, likely to be early 2021, the locomotive will be able to operate passenger trains.

Last year, Class 03 diesel shunting locomotive number 03901 arrived at the railway

The railway has two other appeals available for you to donate towards, one appeal aims to raise the money to overhaul two mineral wagons, and the other is raising money to refurbish the railways RMB coach. You can use the links below for information and to donate:
