Railway falls silent to remember Stonehaven

Today (Wednesday the 19th August) the railway fell silent.

At 09:43 this morning, a minutes silence was held to remember those who lost their lives, along with everyone else affected by the tragic derailment one week ago in .

The minutes silence was held at the time the incident was reported. All the stations in Scotland along with many others across the UK joined in to mark the passing of Donald Dinnie, Brett McCullough and Christoper Stuchbury.

Alex Hynes, Managing Director of Scotland's Railway was joined by the families along with representatives from the emergency services and trade unions. They laid a wreath to remember those who lost their lives last week.

Alex Hynes, Managing Director, Scotland's Railway, said: “Today is a very sombre day for Scotland's Railway. We will mourn the passing of Brett, Donald, Christopher, and the tragic events of last week for a long time to come.

“Our hearts remain broken, but together with our railway family, the local community, and people across the country, we will support their family, friends, and one another through this terrible time.”
