Not one, but two steam locomotives are heading for Plymouth this Wednesday

Ex-LMS ‘Royal Scot’ No. 46100 ‘Royal Scot’ and Ex-BR ‘Britannia’ No 70000 ‘Britannia’ will be hauling a tour this Wednesday to Plymouth.

Departing Cardiff Central at 06:55, the train will be hauled by heritage diesels, and will pass through Newport (07:09), Severn Tunnel Junction (07:23), Patchway (07:39) and Bristol Temple Meads at 07:58.

Here, 46100 and 70000 will take over from the diesels, and will depart at 08:33. From Bristol, the pair will pass through Bath Spa (08:51), Bradford-upon-Avon (09:32), Westbury (09:55), Castle Cary (10:37), Taunton (11:10), Exeter St Davids (12:25), Dawlish (12:39), Newton Abbot (12:49), Totnes (13:36) and Plymouth at 14:11.

After 2 hours in Plymouth, the locomotives will go back the same path as the outbound journey. Departing Plymouth at 16:56, the train will pass through Totnes (17:27), Exeter St Davids (18:14), Taunton (19:31), Westbury (21:03), Bradford-on-Avon (21:29), Bath Spa (21:48), Bristol Temple Meads (22:10 – 46100 and 70000 are replaced by diesels here), Patchway (22:41), Severn Tunnel Junction (23:03), Newport (23:24), and Cardiff Central at 23:54.
