The Toddington Standard Locomotive Ltd (TSLL) has released a list of components you can sponsor to help restore British Railway (BR) Standard Class 4 2-6-0 No.76077.
Not only did many parts get removed from 76077 when it entered Dai Woodham's Barry Scrapyard in September 1968, but some parts were also removed or stolen while in the scrapyard.
One such part, which is available for sponsorship, is the reversing gearbox. The reversing gearbox controls the valves for the cylinder, in turn controlling the amount of steam injected into the cylinders.
Although TSLL is working with other BR Standard owning / building groups to produce parts together, helping to bring costs down, the total cost to replace the reversing gearbox is £10,500. As this is a large amount, the group have broken the sponsorship into 75 parts at £140 each.
