Black 5 steam locomotive passing through Shrewsbury this Saturday

Ex-LMS ‘Black 5’ No. 44871 will be heading to Bristol this Saturday as it prepares to haul a tour from Bristol Temple Meads this Sunday.

Departing the East Lancashire Railway at 07:39, the Black 5 will head through Manchester Victoria (08:29), Salford Central (08:31), Newton-le-Willows (09:02), Warrington Bank Quay (09:13), Winsford (09:23) and Crewe at 10:25.

Meanwhile, a heritage diesel will depart Carnforth Steamtown at 06:50 and will head via Carnforth (07:15 – 09:15), Lancaster (09:24), Preston (09:44), Wigan North Western (10:04), Warrington Bank Quay (10:14) and Crewe at 10:37.

44871 now joins the ECS movement at Crewe. Departing at 11:11, the locomotive will pass through Wrenbury (11:26), Shrewsbury (11:53), Craven Arms (12:22), Leominster (12:41), Hereford (13:08), Abergavenny (14:30), Severn Tunnel Junction (15:16), Pilning (15:30), Filton Abbey Wood (15:50), and Bristol Kingsland Road Fhh at 18:09.
