After Coronavirus restrictions were lifted, there are now just a matter of days to go before the fires up its locomotives and invites passengers to climb aboard as it starts its 2020 season on Yorkshire Day, 1st August 2020.

Steam trains will run seven days a week, with four departures from Pickering to Levisham and return, as well as Grosmont to Goathland and return.

The steam locomotives have been confirmed for the re-opening trains, and will include SR No. 825 and 926 ‘Repton'.

Chris Price, General Manager, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming back passengers, staff and volunteers to the railway. It is great to see activity up and down the line, preparing for re-opening on Yorkshire Day.

“During lockdown, we have been focusing on our fundraising initiatives, and the ‘Welcome Back' services are part of the railway's phased re-opening. To help support the charity, to ensure it is sustainable for the immediate future, come and travel on a service. Your ticket is a donation and will support not only the railway but the wider community too.”

  • Their ticket prices do seem rather high compared with other lines, especially for the much shorter journeys their offering.

  • The North Yorkshire Moors Railway’s going to have one big & busy day this Yorkshire Day, When it comes to Reopening back up and running.

It’ll even be A Highlight of the Preservation Movement, Especially with one of the confirmed locomotives being A Preserved ex-Southern Railway steam loco.

I like to once again wish the NYMR Good Luck this upcoming Yorkshire Day, Let’s Hope it’s A Success for the Year 2020.
