The Somerset and Dorset Railway Heritage Trust has announced that, thanks to generous donations, their appeal to raise £10,000 to refurbish the interior of the trusts Restaurant Miniature Buffet (RMB) Coach has passed the 50% stage.

An incredible £5294 has been raised to date on the Just Giving Page.

The Trust is hopeful that, thanks to another influx of donations, they will reach £7,000 by the 19th July and can, therefore, secure a place with the upholstery company and have the seats completed by Mid-August.

All 48 seats in the coach will be removed and transported away to a specialist upholstery company to have a new moquette applied.

Another £3,000 is required to complete the interior work. If this can be raised whilst the seats are away, the vehicle can have a new linoleum floor installed, which is a lot easier with the seats out. At the same time, the Trust will paint the ceiling and carry out other minor repairs so that it will have a new interior for when the railway can reopen.

The SDJR said: “It will be fantastic if we can have all this work completed by the end of August, with your continued support and donations we can make this happen.”
