The Somerset & Dorset Railway Heritage Trust has announced that their newly acquired mineral wagons have arrived at Station.

The purchase of these two wagons marks a key milestone in recreating the Somerset & Dorset Railway (S&DR) at the Somerset & Dorset Railway Heritage Trust's Midsomer Norton site, as these are the first bought to form a typical S&DR freight train.

A type believed not to have been seen at Midsomer Norton in over half a century, both wagons will need restoring before they can be used in freight trains.

Overhauling both wagons is estimated to cost £2,500, on top of the purchase and transportation costs, with donations towards this amount greatly appreciated by the Trust and its volunteers. To make a donation, please visit the Trust's JustGiving page by clicking here.
