As part of a kindness campaign, is helping Blackpool's most vulnerable people. This campaign was introduced amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jean-Marc Otomonga, who is a year in industry student, and the team at began collecting donations for the ‘Corona Kindness' initiative, which is run by Blackpool Council and volunteers. They have been providing food parcels and vital support to residents.

The first collection consisted of kitchenware, sanitary products, second-hand clothes, along with some toys. The collection has been sent to the Talbot and Brunswick Family Hub and is to make a real difference to those who have been greatly affected during the pandemic.

Jean-Marc and the team at Blackpool Northern plan to collect more donations from Northern colleagues in the coming weeks to further support the community.

Jean-Marc, said: “I'm proud to be helping the local community as COVID has affected many lives, not just physically but economically. A few months ago I was made aware of some of the difficulties faced by people in Blackpool and this inspired me to take the initiative and do something different as a year in Industry student at Northern.

“COVID made me realise just how much I needed to finish off this project before my placement ends later this month. I can now leave knowing that the team at Blackpool North and I have had a positive impact on those families that will benefit.”
