The has confirmed that £350,000 has now been donated through their Crisis Appeal.

The Crisis Appeal was launched in March due to the impact of the .

The NYMR was due to open on the 4th April, but due to lockdown, it has not been able to reopen in 2020.

A mix of silent auctions, a virtual shop and Friday night quizzes along with donations means that a huge amount of money has been raised to keep the heritage attraction steaming again in the future.

Chris Price, General Manager at NYMR comments: “The public support has been overwhelming and thanks to local companies, the railway sector, and the general public who have rallied together and demonstrated their support over the past three months, I'm optimistic about the railway's future.

“To help save vital funds where we can, we've had to make the difficult decision to cancel this year's annual Steam Gala event, which was originally planned for September. This will no doubt come as a real disappointment for many, ourselves included as the event is one of our highlights, but we're doing everything we can to ensure we have a future beyond the summer.

“We just need your continued support to help us get through this last stage and over the final hurdle in our mission to begin operating once more.”

  • I’m well impressed with how successfully well the NYMR have done so far throughout this current period the UK (As Well As Preservation) has been through.

Having previuosly visited and rode aboard one of it’s own trains along the Well-Restored route of the NYMR… I always knew this Heritage Railway Transportation Attraction would once again prove successful at their role in fundraising to helpfully comabt Covid-19 in anyways possible.

Within the next few years as such, I’d definitely look forward to revisitng, seeing and check out the North Yorkshire Moors Railway ‘in-person’ once again.

A Jolly Well Done to the NYMR lot over there on doign so well, so far on their fundraising role in-between.
