The North Yorkshire Moors Railway has announced its plans to reopen after the lockdown.

The railway will reopen to visitors on Yorkshire Day – 1st August 2020.

Steam trains will run seven days a week with four departures from Pickering to Levisham and return, and from Grosmont to Goathland and return. Each journey will last for around an hour.

Tickets will be released in waves, with tickets to visit from 1st to 14th August being available to purchase online from 1st July for NYMR members, then 6th July to the public.

Visitors are able to book a Compartment for £100, a Family ticket table of four for £80, or a Duo ticket table for two people priced at £40. This will make sure social distancing measures are followed to keep staff and other passengers safe.

Each carriage will be sanitised before welcoming the next set of passengers onboard, and train toilets will be out of use. Platform toilets will be available and will be made unisex to enable family groups to use each toilet.

Stations will remain closed except for pre-booked guests, and a one way system will be in place.
