Northern is celebrating the first anniversary of their new trains, which have now completed more than 5 million miles in passenger service.
Additionally, more than five million journeys have also been made using the new trains.
Ninety-five new trains are available for passenger service with the full fleet of 101 trains expected on the Northern network by the end of 2020.
Steve Hopkinson, Regional Director at Northern, said: “It's fantastic that our new trains have already travelled so far, giving millions of customers a better service than ever before.
“Our fleet of new trains is now calling at 140 stations across our network, we're proud that so many people are able to enjoy a step-change in travelling experience.”
The new trains are in operation across Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.
Steve added: “I would like to recognise the efforts of everyone at Northern who have worked – in often challenging circumstances – to get us to this point.
“It's no easy task to introduce brand new trains and there is a huge amount of unseen work and preparation in the background, including the equivalent of more than 20,000 days of staff training.”

Since Horden railway station opened few weeks ago. Northern could order more Class 195 and Class 331 Civity units to use them on the branch lines in Tyne & Wear, Northumberland and County Durham.
Such as the Durham Coast Line, Esk Valley Line and Tees Valley Line and using 2-Car and 3-Car Class 195s. And to operate the Newcastle-Chathill local service with using 3-Car Class 331s.
Northern should order more Class 195 Civity DMUs to operate them on the Durham Coast Line, Tees Valley Line, Esk Valley Line and to destinations in Northeast England including Whitby, Saltburn, Battersby, Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool and the new Horden railway station. And to work with the Class 158 and Class 156 Sprinter DMUs.
And the Class 331 Civity EMUs to operate the Newcastle-Morpeth-Chathill/Berwick-upon-Tweed stopper service (including stations on the ECML that Northern trains stops at).
