has released its latest update on work to build steam locomotive BR ‘Clan' No. 72010 ‘Hengist'.

Work on 72010 has continued at CTL Seal in Sheffield throughout June following the Monday Gang working party resuming after the lifting of coronavirus restrictions.

Progress has concentrated on the frames for the locomotive, with CTL Seal employees completing work on fitting the stretcher bolts.

Alongside this, a set of shields have been manufactured for use on the sand traps. The bogie side control beams have been completed, and the bogie centre slide is now on the second stage of machining.

CTL Seal and The Clan Project have continued to comply with the government guidance regarding coronavirus social distancing.

Geoff Turner, Engineering Director of The ‘Clan' Project, said: “Thank you once again to our Monday Gang and our partners at CTL Seal for their hard work at this difficult time. Despite the challenges of the current situation, we are making good progress as we prepare the frame assembly for the machine shop, where the horn guides and frame keeps will be fitted.”

June saw the release of the summer edition of Clan News. Priced at just £2, this can be ordered from The Clan Project Shop.
