The Churnet Valley Railway has announced that they will begin operating trains from 1st August 2020 in line with government guidance.
After the steam locomotives were put to sleep on the 15th March 2020, the CVR went into a forced closure on the 24th March 2020.
The CVR has said that it has not launched any big appeals, like other railways have, due to understanding the publics own challenges. Instead, they have said that they have relied upon their bank and support charity to get through the tough times.
The pandemic has severely affected the Churnet Valley Railway, with lost income from no trains. Whilst the goodwill will continue, the current situation is not sustainable. So the CVR is now looking to the public for help by people buying a ticket and travelling on trains.
The phased reopening will include a reduced timetable and the cancellation of all events until the rearranged Borders Explorer in November.

This is Good News so far… Even the Churnet Valley Railway (which I myself also still hope to visit for A Train Ride ‘in-person’)… Are at long last set to Reopen back up and running…
Hopefully to make up for lost income and to conjure up ideas in anyways possible to retrieve said income in-between.
To Me, I Creatively Describe the CVR (whom also share CVR initials with the Colne Valley Rly – Essex)… As Staffordshire’s ex-Cross Country Heritage Railway.
Surprisingly, It’s also the same day the North Yorkshire Moors Railway also reopen back up and running – to Coincide with Yorkshire Day 2020.
Also, I wonder if the Churnet Valley Rly may also take on A Pacer (or 2) as part of it’s own fleet of locos and rolling stock… Who knows – Only Time Shall Tell.
