The Friends of Bratton Fleming Station urgently need help to purchase Bratton Fleming station.
Closure of the whole original Lynton & Barnstaple Railway route came in 1935, with the majority of original rolling stock scrapped and stations & trackbed sold off. Forty-four years later in 1979, the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Association was created (becoming a charitable trust in 2000), to restore the full line to carry passenger trains.
The Exmoor Associates was formed in 2007, to purchase former Lynton & Barnstaple Railway land, ready for when the railway can reinstate tracks.
In March 2020 good news came when Bratton Fleming Station, currently a private residence named “Long Ace”, was listed for sale. Sadly, before the railway or it's supporting groups could finalise a plan to purchase the station “Long Ace” had been sold subject to contract.
In a twist of fate, last month (May 2020) it was noted the property was back up for sale, and following enquires, the previous sale had fallen through. With this news, the Friends of Bratton scheme was launched, as the Exmoor Associates, unfortunately, do not have the full funds needed to meet the asking price.
In another twist to this story, a new offer has now been made on the station. The group now need £160,000 to make a counter-offer on the station.

The group are looking for an interest-free (for around two years) loan, which will be paid off by fundraising and rentals from the property.
The Friends of Bratton Fleming Station needs the funding this week, or early next week, in order to make a counter-offer.
