have posted an update on recent work by volunteers on the overhaul of Great Western Railway 2884 Class No.3850 based at the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR).

Although volunteers are unable to visit Toddington Station where 3850 is currently based, they have been able to continue with work at their homes or the company's site in Worcestershire.

It is hoped the company can return to the GWSR soon to resume other tasks to progress with 3850's overhaul.

The majority of 3850's valve gearing, brake gear, drain cock, damper mechanism and conduit for Automatic Train Control (ATC) has been cleaned and painted.

This will allow these components to be refitted to the chassis once volunteers can return to the GWSR.

Back in March 2020, the valve liners were fitted into the new cylinder blocks for 3850, a major milestone in the extensive overhaul.
