Update on cosmetic overhaul of steam locomotive “Jacks Green”

have posted an update on their Facebook page on the recent progress on Hunslet Works-built Jacks Green's cosmetic overhaul.

Members of the Group returned to Wansford Locomotive Shed on the on Saturday 6th of June 2020, following the closure of the shed due to COVID-19, with attention turning to Jacks Green's cosmetic overhaul.

Recent work has seen primer, and undercoat paint applied to the cab, tank and bunker on the right-hand side. Coupling rods on the right-hand side, coupled wheels on the left-hand side and cab roof have received their first layer of topcoat.

About The Small Loco Group

Formed in 2012, the group care for three tank engines, “Derek Crouch”, “Jacks Green” and No. 656 “Tinkerbell”. The Group are currently fundraising to hopefully overhaul “Derek Crouch” in time for two major anniversaries in 2024. Volunteers will carry out the whole overhaul, including the boiler.
