Ex-BR (WR) 94XX Pannier Tank No. 9466 is being offered for hire to the many heritage railways around Britain.
9466 is owned by WSR PLC Chairman, Jonathan Jones-Pratt, and is being offered for hire to other railways due to the locomotive not being used on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway, where it was set to be loaned and operated.
The change in hire is due to the extended closure of the GWSR due to the coronavirus crisis in the UK. The GWSR is currently set to be closed until at least the 15th of August.

Jonathan Jones-Pratt, 9466's owner, told RailAdvent: “Clearly Covid-19 has brought many challenges across the movement, 9466 has always been a very positively received engine and we felt at JJPH that it would be nice to offer the engine out for hire. We have been informed that the GWSR will not be running as they have done in the past for 2020. It would be a shame to see the engine sat not being used, but that may be the case as we all work through this year and understand how it will unfold, but the offer is there for anyone interested in wanting to hire the engine for 2020/21.”
About 9466
One of the last designs produced for the GWR by Hawksworth. The class first appeared in 1947, just before the GWR became the Western Region under British Railways.
9466 was built by Robert Stephenson and Hawthorns in 1951, with the engine being allocated to Worcester (85A) in early 1952.
The class was unfortunate in that diesel shunters were increasing in number, starting to replace the 94XXs from the late 1950s onwards. 9466 lasted until Summer 1964, where the engine was withdrawn and sold to Barry Scrapyard.
Saved from Barry in 1977, 9466 returned to steam at Quainton Road Railway Centre in the Mid 1980s. Throughout preservation, 9466 has run on both mainline and preserved lines. The tank currently wears BR Unlined Black with Early Crest.

Hello.
It is with sad news that I have read that 9466 is to be moved on. I have had many a trip with 9466 pulling the coaches that I have travelled in. Also I have many photographs that I have taken over a period of time and for me 9466 is very photogenic in all weathers .I have talked to the Locomotive Engineers ( my name for the engine drivers that are male and female ) and they said what a lovely locomotive to drive.
9466 may be a small locomotive in size but with a big heart. For me it has been a privilege to have seen, travelled behind, and in general a big thank you
to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway for introducing me to a lovely 9466 and wherever 9466 is going I send all my good wishes for a Good new home.
It would be lovely if I could say goodby with some pictures when 9466 leaves Toddington.
