Saphos Trains to resume steam locomotive tours from mid July 2020!

have released an update, detailing their plans to begin mainline tours from Wednesday 15th July 2020.

Saphos Trains are only welcoming passengers on their trains once again following implementing social distancing and other safety measures set out by the Office for Road and Rail (ORR), ensuring both staff and passengers are safe while travelling.

A number of measures are being used, with the main changes listed being:

  • Trains will only carry 60% of full capacity.
  • Passengers spaced out onboard.
  • Perspex screens fixed between seats.
  • Increased cleaning of toilets and surfaces (such as handles, luggage rakes)
  • Hand sanitiser available for passengers

The first train to run should be The Fellsman on Wednesday the 15th July, taking passengers on a 300 round trip between Crewe and Carlisle, being hauled by one of Saphos Trains' fleet of steam locomotives.
