The has announced that Phase 2a on the restoration of Bridge 11 is finished.

Refurbishment of Bridge 11 is one of the last projects needing completion before the railway can operate trains to Boughton.

In Phase 2a, a team from Northants Mobile Sandblasting Ltd have refurbished the iron girders on the bridge.

Their work has involved cleaning off the old paint, rust and dirt through shot blasting, followed by repainting in a protective black paint to ensure the girders can support the bridge for many years to come.

Phase 2b

Work involved in Phase 2b will see roughly 200 holes drilled out, allowing stainless steel rods to be fitted inside, with the last step pumping new grout into the brickwork to replace lost grout from over a 140 years of exposure to the weather.

Supporting the Boughton Extension

Although the majority of the finance required for the project has been received through grants, the railway still needs to raise £18,000 to complete the project. For more information or to donate towards the project, please click here to visit their website.

Supporting the Northampton and Lamport Railway

Like every heritage line, the Northampton and Lamport Railway has lost vital income while COVID-19 has forced the closure of the line until further notice. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated by the railway and its volunteers. For more information or to donate now, please click here to visit their website.

  • Well this is Good News so far… The Northampton & Lamport Railway have so far done well on Their Long-Term Eventual Boughton Extension.

Let’s Hope, This Time Next Year… This Heritage Railway should by then be running their own Trains along this newly extended stretch of their own running line down to Boughton.

I do believe once/as soon as the Boughton Extension sees completion, the N&LR might be Aiming to work on extensively expanding Northwards towards Lamport itself, someday.

I (myself) still hope on visiting the N&LR ‘in-person’ someday… To Ride Aboard one of it’s own trains up and down this Well-Restored Railway line as well as check it out.

Well Done to the N&LR on their Boughton Extension Project by the way.
