Essential work has begun at Glasgow Queen Street to increase the space required for passengers at the station and allow social distancing.
For a fortnight, a small number of staff will be on-site completing surfacing work for the public areas outside of the station, on Dudas and West George streets.
The work is being completed to increase space for passengers and to improve social distancing.
The work has been risk-assessed, and staff will be wearing PPE at all times during the work.
The construction work at Glasgow Queen Street has been stopped as part of the lockdown and is not continuing at this time.
Tommy McPake, Network Rail programme manager for Queen Street, said: “The work we are undertaking will help to create more space for the public outside Queen Street in anticipation of an increase in passenger flows when we start to ease out of lockdown. We have carefully assessed the activities we are carrying out and will have only a small number of staff on-site while we deliver this essential work. We would ask the public to maintain a safe two-metre distance from staff working on site and remind people that they should only be travelling by train for essential journeys.”
